We visited 8 schools over two days, with over 4,200 students engaged in our conversation about the Long Beach Grand Prix, driving safety, continued education and pursuing your dreams! Thank you to our two professional drivers, Christina Nielsen and Harry Gottsacker.
An excellent event with 50+ people in attendance to support the Mayor for his re-election. Hot Topic of the evening was Rent Control.

City Council confirmed the need for additional data presentation prior to rolling out the bans in small businesses and for any additional items. The next review will be in August 2019.

The City awarded the IndyCar Series race, which is held on a street circuit in Long Beach, an additional five year contract to keep the race in Long Beach.

Council to answer the questions! Don't miss it!
March 20, 2018 -Murchison Consulting was successful in obtaining an 8-0 vote by the Council directing the City Attorney to answer questions, posed by the rental property owners, by April 17th. This was a big initial win for rental property owners as it showed the council we are very serious about defeating rent control.

City Council approved a 16 year lease extension for Catalina Landing. Catalina Landing is located at 310-340 Golden Shore Avenue in Downtown Long Beach. The property includes four office buildings, a parking structure, and an enclosed boat basin and landing facility adjacent to the office buildings.

Polystyrene is officially out in Long Beach after the city council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance that will ban styrofoam from being used to package food or in a number of other products sold throughout the city. However, this could be costly to our small businesses, even putting them out of business. We are working with the City to ensure the data is being reviewed prior to finalizing any additional bans in August 2019.

We are working to keep our Police Officers safe by advocating to the City to award Axon Enterprise, Inc. a pilot program whereby Axon will provided the city's police officers free body cameras and digital evidence management systems for a six month trial period.

This has become a political issue statewide. Rent Control advocates are looking to collect 27,000 registered voter signatures on or before July 30, 2018. Rental property owners, investors and brokers around the city are joining efforts to fight the proposed ordinance. The language of the ordinance can be found at www.longbeach.gov under the City Clerk Icon. Educate yourself and consider getting involved to defeat this measure.
